hmm.. I think I like the older version more. The angle of the perspective makes the space feel more impressive, and the ambiguous materiality coupled with the scale figures really draws attention to the various levels (which was part of the project, right?) Also, is the ceiling you show in the first rendering part of the existing library? Where did it go in the second one?
i actually like the materiality of the second one because it's a little less ambiguous and allows for some really great contrasts of light and shadow. but i agree with lvroche that the first perspective is a little more impressive. it looks like the angle is the same, but you just cropped the second one -- was that on purpose? either way, i think once you get some people in there (and i would go with some really colorful images for that), it will really come together.
I agree with them above the angle is a lot better in the first iteration. I also like the lightness of the first one. The second one looks to real in a way. maybe it's just as simple as putting some photoshop filters on there and working with the contrast. To dark.
