TBW V3.0 UPDATE

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Just a quick update on the status of the site. As you can see, the switch from v2.0 to the new and improved v3.0 is currently underway. Most of the public areas are already up and running, but I’m still working on getting the profile portions updated. Consequently, the log in will be down for another couple of days, as will the Mark-up, Favorite, and Quick Critique features.

It’ll be worth the wait, I promise!

UPDATE: 3/10

Hey, so it’s taking longer than anticipated to get the new features up and running so I thought I’d add a quick update. The new features are in place, it’s just finding the time to test them that’s holding things up. I’m hoping to test everything this weekend, so once I’m satisfied that the system is working properly, I’ll let you know. Sorry for the delay!

TBW V3.0

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Well I’m at it again with the redesigning here at Thebackwall. It’s only been 8 short months since the current design went live, and I’ve already had it up to here with the fake PS textures and the orange/blue color combo. TBW v2.0 was more of a back end redesign anyway, so look for v3.0 to really concentrate on updates to usability and functionality. We’re talking less loading times, better browser compatibility, and less Flash. In other words, much better.

V3.0 has been in the works over the last few weeks, so I’ll probably start switching things over in chunks sometime this weekend. I may have to take the site offline for a brief period of time, but it shouldn’t be for more than 24 hours.

More to come.

onThebackwall V2.0 IS A GO.

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Hello and welcome to the new and improved onThebackwall!  My name is Matt, and I’m very excited to finally unveil OTBW v2.0 after some great initial feedback from our users. While not all of our plans for the new site are fully realized yet, the bulk of them are in place and ready to go.  A quick list of the new/improved features here at onThebackwall:

  • Customizable user profiles, complete with your very own unique URL.
  • Three quick and interactive ways of receiving and providing project feedback:  online “Mark-ups”, “Quick Critiques”, and comments.
  • Interactive and customizable pin-ups.
  • Profiles for institutions so that you can check out what kind of things certain schools are up to (Sidenote:  if you’re an administrator at a school and would like to provide some information for your profile, send me an email).
  • A Featured section (coming soon), where we’ll highlight projects/techniques, host small design competitions (and by small we mean awesome), and other feature-worthy content on a weekly basis.
  • An improved theBackmix, for your aural working pleasure.
  • This BLOG! where we’ll post everything from site updates to musings on various design topics to tutorials that you’ll hopefully find useful in some of your future projects.
  • And of course, a large community of young designers to discuss ideas and techniques with.

So ya, take a look around and if you have any questions or comments, check out the Help/FAQ section or send us an email. Our goal is to create a forum where students and other young designers can discuss ideas, projects, and techniques with a wide range of their contemporaries. Whether you come here to discuss design, share an idea, or simply to be inspired, we hope onThebackwall becomes a helpful resource for you throughout the design process.

Woo!
